After a long few weeks in the classroom — grading papers, lesson plans, and all those “Miss, can I submit it tomorrow?” moments — I finally took a long weekend for myself. I packed a small bag, closed my laptop, and hopped on a flight from New York to somewhere I’d been dreaming about: Sharm El Sheikh, the City of Peace.
It’s hard to describe the feeling of stepping off the plane and breathing in that warm Egyptian air. The sunshine here feels different — softer, like it’s been waiting just for you. The Red Sea sparkles like liquid glass, and the sand feels like silk under your feet. I swear, the stress of city life melted away the moment I saw that turquoise water.
Mornings here start slow — a walk by the beach, a quiet breakfast, maybe a bit of journaling before dipping into the sea. I didn’t realize how much I missed silence until I found it here. No honking taxis, no rush-hour chaos… just peace, waves, and my thoughts.
Traveling from New York’s skyline to Egypt’s open sky reminded me that peace doesn’t always come from doing nothing — sometimes it comes from doing something just for you. A reset, a reminder that life’s not only about teaching lessons but also living them.
As I watched the sunset turn the desert gold, I promised myself more weekends like this — full of light, warmth, and quiet gratitude.
Until next time — from my classroom to your heart, take a breath, and make time for peace.
